World Kindness Day is all about showing kindness to one another and strengthening our community bonds—after all, who can make their way through the world completely on their own, without any help or kindness from others?
This 13th of November, you can spread positivity in your community by performing these 5 random acts of kindness.
1. Cook a loved one’s favourite meal
What better way to show a family member, close friend or significant other that you care about and appreciate them than by cooking them some delicious food? Cooking someone’s favourite meal shows them that you’re thinking of them and prioritising their preferences. And, of course, it’s great when someone does all the work to prepare a meal especially for you.
2. Donate to charity
It’s important to acknowledge that not everyone has had the same opportunities we might have had, and surely there’s no better day to give back to the community and help those who are disadvantaged than World Kindness Day. If you don’t have much money to spare, you can also donate your old clothes and coats to homeless shelters, for example.
3. Compliment people
Complimenting other people takes no effort at all, so why don’t we do it more often? Something as simple as complimenting a friend’s outfit or someone’s post on the internet can really brighten someone’s day, at no cost to you.
4. Offer someone help
Even offering to help someone with something simple like washing the dishes can make a difference, especially if they’ve been busy with other tasks all day and haven’t had a chance to relax yet. Just because someone hasn’t asked you for help, it doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t appreciate someone offering a helping hand.
5. Be kind to yourself
Don’t forget about yourself! It’s much easier to spread positivity and kindness when you also apply these qualities to how you treat yourself. When you compliment other people, it’s good to remind yourself of your own good qualities as well. You could perhaps write down a list of positive affirmations or things you’re grateful for each night to reinforce your optimistic mindset.
